Dear Praying Friends,
July was a month full of vacation activities. Thirteen adults, children and young people received their certificates for 120 hours of Signing and Orientation for interpreting for the deaf.
The last week of vacation, Esperança (Hope) Baptist Church had a Gincana (various types of competitions) for six nights: 7:00 – 10:30 p.m. They divided into four teams – adults and children mixed – and had all kinds of Biblical, physical and mental competitions. Darrel took our young people (União Baptist) and admired how Brazilians love to play!
We were advised that a 13 year old girl from our former Children’s Club had been diagnosed with cancer and had had a leg amputated. Jean went to visit and Darrel promised to go later. The weeks passed and finally Darrel decided the visit had to be now, today. He sent our helper to make an appointment. She came back saying that Pauliana had died during the night.
Was she saved? Yes. She accepted Christ in Children’s Club. The Club had been discontinued for lack of workers as our little church (União Baptist) went through hard times.
The neighborhood is full of children. They live in tiny houses from 8 – 12 feet wide and play in the street. Gangs are active and there have been two murders within 3 blocks of the church this month.
Hundreds of children have heard of Christ’s love through our camps, clubs, and religion lessons in the public schools. But, there are still thousands more to hear the gospel. And what about their parents? Please pray with us to meet this challenge.
Our next need is adequate facilities. We want to build this structure: with an auditorium- gymnasium above, class rooms and social hall below. We have a plan but no money. Please pray with us that God will supply this need. If you would like to help, send your contribution to Baptist-Mid-Missions. Write on a separate piece of paper: for Darrel Haworth Construction.
Thank you for praying.
